Try Bardo’s First Brews Tonight

DC’s biggest—and yes, oddest—beer garden is back in the brewing business. Tonight is your first chance to see what all those tanks on Bardo’s grounds have been up to, as they tap five beers for four bucks a pop. Bonus beer: a barley wine that’s been cask-aging since 1999.

Sneak preview Aug 7, 6pm, Bardo Brewpub, 1200 Bladensburg Rd NE, 762-233-7070

SQUIRT GUNS

An Adults-Only Water Fight

Here’s a Saturday afternoon with a twist. You’re getting tiki drinks and Bluejacket beers from a big bar. You’re listening to dominant ’90s cover band White Ford Bronco. You’re doing this amidst giant inflatable water slides, water games and a water fight with gratis water cannons. That’s the twist.

Five Hours of Really Hot Chicken

The Maison Dixon pop-up restaurant is, well, popping up again at Capitol Lounge. The centerpiece: Nashville-style hot chicken, guaranteed to make your toes curl and your eyes water. (Okay, almost guaranteed.) If that’s not your bag, there’s always grilled pimento cheese, smoked brisket sloppy joes and jalapeño grits. Which might be hot, too.

The Passenger Gets Tiki-er

Pour a little out for the dearly departed Hogo rum bar on 7th Street. Then head a couple doors up to the Passenger for Tiki Tuesdays, where they’re making good use of Hogo’s scorpion bowls and ceramic tiki mugs. And probably the rum.

Tuesdays, 5pm-close, The Passenger, 1021 7th St NW, 202-393-0220

T-Shirts from LA, via Georgetown

You can’t live in a blazer and tie. (Well, you can, but the nights get uncomfortable.) So here are the Hugh & Crye guys, branching out into that simplest of garments: the crewneck, pocket T-shirt. They’re being sewn in LA in 12 highly specific sizes, and six colors. That’s... 72 chances to find the perfect T-shirt.
