Things to do for July 25, 2013

The Weekender

A Pie-and-Cocktail Pairing and What to Do with Your Old Pants. Weekend.

It’d be a lot cooler if the weekend did.

A New Coffee Bar Inside of a Bar Bar

A New Coffee Bar Inside of a Bar Bar

Hi-Lo Club is a bar. The cocktails and the beer are what makes it that. But it’s also a coffee bar now. Because during the daylight hours, a java pop-up called Iron & Steam is commandeering the space to make you espressos from Chromatic Coffee beans. As you were.

Pie, Meet Cocktails. Cocktails, Pie.
PIE ONE ON

Pie, Meet Cocktails. Cocktails, Pie.

Pie-and-cocktail pairing. That’s happening. It’s a one-night-only thing they’re doing at the Burritt Room. Three Babes Bakeshop will show up with the pies (peach, salty honey walnut, key lime) and Burritt will show up with the cocktails (like the Mark Twain with scotch and ginger). You’ll just... show up.

Turning Your Old Pants into Gold

Seedstore is staying open a bit later tomorrow night. It’s so you can bring in a pair of your old pants and exchange them for $20 toward a new pair. Say, some chinos from Gant or Penfield. Or a pair of jeans from Tellason. Anyway, best recycling project ever.

Jul 26, 7-9pm, Seedstore, 212 Clement St (at 3rd Ave), 415-386-1600

Saturday
You See, It’s Like a Camping Food Expo
CAMPING YOUR STYLE

You See, It’s Like a Camping Food Expo

When you go camping, you probably eat food. And it’s probably quite terrible. And Alite would like to help with their first-ever Camp Food Fair. A bunch of local outfits will be there with travel-size olive oils and fancy hot dogs and other outdoor-friendly foodstuffs. Sorry, dried apricots.

Jul 27, noon-4pm, Alite Designs, 2505 Mariposa St (at Hampshire), 415-626-1526

Sunday
Getting All Peru on the Embarcadero
PERU’S CLUES

Getting All Peru on the Embarcadero

Early vote for most underrated holiday of July 28, 2013: Peruvian Independence Day. Especially since that’s when La Mar will have $5 pisco sours, live dance acts and Peruvian Creole musicians throughout the day. It’s no Battle of Angamos Day, but it’ll do.
