Things to do for June 26, 2013

The Weekender

A Week of Hot Dogs, Chicken and Donuts

The weekend always builds to a grand finale.

Saturday
Workout + Breakfast + Pool
SUN KING

Workout + Breakfast + Pool

Your rooftop pool plan at the Liaison: wake up early. (Stay with us.) Hit up the hotel’s 7:30am yoga class. Next, head into Art and Soul for breakfast. Then they’ll turn you loose at the rooftop pool all day. Which is a great place to grab a nap.

Monday
Polaroids Are Now a Thing. Again.
ROID-ING

Polaroids Are Now a Thing. Again.

This weekend, you’re going to take a great photo. We can feel it. But rather than leave it imprisoned on your phone, take it to this new Union Station pop-up. You can instantly print it to look like a classic polaroid, or order prints on canvas or metal. Something lighter than lead, we’re guessing.

Soft-Serve Gelato: Almost Here
COLD FRONT

Soft-Serve Gelato: Almost Here

There’s a new ice cream delivery system in the offing—Dolcezza’s new soft-serve gelato. You’ll ask them to pull a cone of dulce de leche or blackberries and cream. Then you’ll take it over to the sundae bar where you can dip it in chocolate. It’s a chocolate delivery system, too.

Opens Jul 1, Dolcezza, 1704 Connecticut Ave NW, 202-299-9116

Next Wednesday
Donut and Chicken Picnic Baskets
FIREWORKS PT. 1

Donut and Chicken Picnic Baskets

This is what Adams and Jefferson would have wanted—Astro’s fireworks-ready basket of fried chicken, potato salad, Asian slaw and a half-dozen special donuts, namely the chocolate Birthday Cake and the vanilla Firecracker. It’s actually what you want as well.

Next Thursday
Bands and Dollar Dogs at Fairgrounds
FIREWORKS PT. 2

Bands and Dollar Dogs at Fairgrounds

Speaking of celebrating America, there’s a ball game at 11am, which means that Fairgrounds opens at 9am and is hosting four bands all day. Starting at 2pm, they’ll be turning out $1 dogs, peanuts and Cracker Jack all the way through the fireworks. You don’t care if you never get back.
