Your Guide to Lolla After-Parties

Going to Lollapalooza—that’s the easy part. Picking the right after-party—now that takes some savvy. Below, some basic strategies to help you choose wisely:

Historic Feats

Historic Feats

You’re a fan of: The 1990s. And freak shows.
Head to: Berlin.
Where you’ll find: Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs doing a DJ set. And, to salute the original Lolla, a live freak show (think fire-eaters).
But beware: We suggest wearing something flame-retardant.

Scratch That

Scratch That

You’re a fan of: The Beastie Boys. And heights.
Head to: Vertigo Sky Lounge.
Where you’ll find: Legendary vinyl scratcher Mix Master Mike in total control of this 26th-floor penthouse. Well, technically, only the music. You’re in charge of drinks.
But beware: It’s strictly BYO brass monkey.

Splashdown

Splashdown

You’re a fan of: Swimming pools. Martinis. Hip-hop.
Head to: W Chicago - Lakeshore Wet Deck.
Where you’ll find: Gratis, pre–Black Sabbath poolside martinis with Nashville rapper Chancellor Warhol.
But beware: No lifeguard will be on duty.

Rave Up

Rave Up

You’re a fan of: Heavily tattooed South Africans.
Head to: Congress Theater.
Where you’ll find: A full-blown rave, including oddball South African duo—and Alexander Wang muse—Die Antwoord and British electro act Nero.
But beware: Neon will be acceptable attire.

Lolla: Paris

Lolla: Paris

You’re a fan of: Spending big for after-shows...
Head to: Studio Paris.
Where you’ll find: Chicago native Kaskade throwing down beats on Sunday.
But beware: Reservations start at $2,500 for groups of 10, and Saturday tables for Avicii are already gone. Yes, really.

Aug 5, 9pm, minimum $2,500 for groups of 10, Studio Paris, 59 W Hubbard St, reserve at 312-595-0800
