Things to do for November 03, 2011

The Weekender

French Dips, Power Dinners and Skinny-Dipping

The weekend has no idea what it’s going to do with all this Hershey’s Special Dark.

Thursday
Skinny-Dipping for Art
SLIDE RULE

Skinny-Dipping for Art

Apparently, your naked body is considered fine art. Or at least it is right now at the New Museum. Their latest interactive installation, an adult playground, includes a 102-foot rubber slide, a carousel of mirrors and a skinny-dipping, saltwater sensory-deprivation tank... that’s open to the public. So basically a highly cultured peep show.

Reinventing the Power Dinner
MONKEY BUSINESS

Reinventing the Power Dinner

Sure, the business dinner doesn’t require much. Usually, red meat, neat scotch and a corner booth wrapped in leather. But Graydon Carter thinks you (and your clients) deserve better. So he’s retooled the Monkey Bar to include new dishes like smoked fettuccine with fresh uni and caviar. Nothing seals a deal like uni.

Friday
Midday Black Label Burgers
JUS DO IT

Midday Black Label Burgers

Breaking news from the roasted-bone-marrow front: Minetta Tavern is now open for lunch. Which means you can begin breaking up your regular rotation of salads/wraps with an occasional Black Label Burger, NY strip or beef-broth-bathed French dip. A little jus can go a long way.

Available Wed-Fri, noon-3pm, Minetta Tavern, 113 MacDougal St, 212-475-3850

Saturday
Momofuku’s Thanksgiving Croissant
BIRD IN HAND

Momofuku’s Thanksgiving Croissant

You’re three weeks away from the biggest meal of the year. So let’s start training. Milk Bar—the pastry-based arm of Momofuku’s empire—is rolling out a limited-edition croissant that’s filled with sliced white and dark meat turkey, homemade stuffing and cranberry relish. Unfortunately, they couldn’t fit the gravy boat.
