One of these days, someone is going to impugn your honor and challenge you to a duel. It’s time to prepare. This local fencing club has drop-in épée classes every Saturday, where you’ll match wits (and steel) against other fencers. Finally, a use for that black mask of yours.
Sure, you can show up for some free skating here at the Caps’ practice rink. But the environment will have you wanting to grab a stick. You and 30 other skaters can don your gear and pepper the goals for 75 minutes. Teeth optional.
Weekends begin on Thursday. So, too, does the coed flinging of dodgeballs. So you’ll want to gather 10 fierce playground competitors. But, just to cover your bases, better make sure they’re decent at flip cup, too.
Like regular polo, your feet can’t touch the ground. Unlike regular polo, you don’t have as far to fall in these weekly, asphalt-based pickup games. And your steed is a lot cheaper to maintain.
This NoVa program is helmed by a former Olympian who was once ranked seventh in the world (no, it’s not Russell Crowe). They’ll get you started with the basics and have you progressing all the way up to the tournaments. Bring a bushel of apples. And a really brave friend.
