Which, we think, means that rooftop barbecues, pool parties and girls in sundresses will soon be here.
In the meantime, that fog isn’t budging, and you could use a new jacket, some flannels and a few bottles of rum to help ride it out...
Here to help with the first two: Beams+, a select heritage line of ’80s preppy threads out of Tokyo, available now for the first time in SF exclusively at Unionmade.
If you haven’t yet heard of Beams+, it’s because right now is only the second time since 1976 that they’ve shared their small-run collection with the masses (and also with you). And as a way of weeding out the disingenuous, they require select shop owners—including Unionmade’s owner/buyer—to fly to Japan and get everything in person. (You can trade favorite sushi bar stories when you see him.)
You’ll see that it’s all a very New England-y look that’s got both rugged and professorial elements. So if you want to appear like you’re off to hike the Appalachian Trail or build a fire, the Navy-inspired wool CPO shirt-jacket and 1960s check button-down are in order.
If you’re leaning toward the tenure-track side of things, then the Harris Tweed three-button blazer with leather elbow patches and Black Watch tartan trousers would work nicely.
Now, about those bottles of rum...
