SF Beer Week has been predictably heavy on the beer. So it’s a refreshing change when seven bartenders from places like Smuggler’s Cove, Bourbon & Branch and 15 Romolo whip up beer cocktails with tequila, rye whiskey and single malts in a mix-off contest—using the term “brawl” loosely.
In a UN-like feat of butchery, this five-course beef and Belgian beer event involves three butchers—one from Italy and two representing the USA—putting their skills to good use. They’ll be making dishes like deconstructed bánh mì with beef heart and Argentine Matambre. In this case, Belgium is like the new Switzerland...
