Brunch at Hog & Rocks
FLIGHT PLANS

Brunch at Hog & Rocks

At one of the earliest brunches in the city, you can take a leisurely approach to your meal: Buckwheat Beer Pancakes to start, a multi-booze—vodka, tequila, gin and beer—flight of Bloody Marys, then a BLT, where the “L” stands for lamb. It’s too early for lettuce anyway.

Sat-Sun, 9am-2:30pm, Hog & Rocks, 3431 19th St (at Mission), 415-550-8627

Basil Hayden's
Stir-Fried Mongolian Lamb at Heaven’s Dog

MONGOLIAN EMPIRE

Stir-Fried Mongolian Lamb at Heaven’s Dog

The cocktail-focused Chinese restaurant’s 30-foot bar—made from a fallen cypress tree—is an inviting spot for some bourbon drinking. And the joint’s spicy, wok-fired Mongolian lamb, stir-fried with spicy pickled leeks and peppers, similarly invites a few swigs of bourbon—purely to quell the peppers, of course.

411: Available at Heaven’s Dog, 1148 Mission St (at Seventh), 415-863-6008

KNOCKOUT PUNCH

National Punch Day at Comstock

In honor of National Punch Day, the guys at Comstock are celebrating with $4 cupfuls of their gin-spiked Professor Punch—a potent concoction dedicated to “Professor” Jerry Thomas, the oft-considered father of American mixology. You could learn a lot from this one...

WONDER WOMEN

Cocktail Week Kickoff After-Party

As if an entire week devoted to exploring the ins and outs of cocktails (and by exploring, we mean drinking) wasn’t already a winning idea, this after-party hosted by some of the city’s best female bartenders from Prospect, Rye and Laszlo is... inspired. Call it research.

Sep 21, 9pm-2am, Laszlo Bar, 2526 Mission St (at 21st), 415-401-0810

Wednesday
Italian Models and Suits
GIVING THE BOOT

Italian Models and Suits

Even better than a runway fashion show, you’ll get to mingle with models of Italy’s best women’s and men’s designers over bites and cocktails from the land of the boot. You’ll also find the suits by Kiton to be especially sharp this season—if you’re actually there to suit-shop...

Thursday
Gaming Soirée at Burritt Room
ANTE UP

Gaming Soirée at Burritt Room

A burlesque show and turn-of-the-century cocktails will be on hand to enhance the usual gaming suspects of blackjack, roulette and poker at this Barbary Coast-inspired bash. We suggest you wear your Gold Rush-era best—since it’s easier to play the part if you look it.

Sep 23, 8pm-midnight, $60, Burritt Room, Crescent Hotel, 417 Stockton St, 415-400-0500
