Night at the Museum

Your quest for the next after-hours spot has taken you deep under Ludlow Street, but it's never taken you into the Whitney. Never until now. Tonight, the museum does not close, and the Rothkos, Hoppers and bizarre driftwood sculptures will be as browseable at 5am as they are at 5pm. Consider it a cultured way to watch the sunrise.

Open now until Friday at 11:59pm, The Whitney, 945 Madison Ave (at 75th St), 212-570-3600

40% Off at Barneys

The Midtown temple of menswear is offering you one last chance at their summer gear before the season begins in earnest. That means plaid shirts from Gilded Age for $150 and Rogues Gallery tees for less than a pitcher of margaritas. (Not that you have to choose.)

Now through Jun 1, Thu-Fri 10am-8pm, Sat 10am-7pm, Sun 11am-6pm, Barneys, 660 Madison Ave, 212-826-8900

THE GREAT INDOORS

Private Park Opens at the Hudson Hotel

The interesting thing to note about the English garden lounge called Private Park, behind the hotel lobby, is that it's not actually private... you don't need a room key or a secret handshake to consume pitchers of sangria while stretched out on daybeds and throw pillows. All that you need is an unwavering dedication to lounging and/or gardening.

Movies on the Main Deck
TOP GUN

Movies on the Main Deck

A rare chance to watch Tom Cruise land on an aircraft carrier as you sit on an aircraft carrier. Yes, they are showing movies atop the Intrepid this summer, and Friday is the first and highly appropriate selection. Pack a picnic, but if you want to drink on board, you'll need to smuggle it—perhaps in a juice box.

Saturday
Party at John's Place
HAMPTONS ROCK

Party at John's Place

Between the beach and your first dinner party of the season, stop in for cocktail hour at John Varvatos's East Hampton clubhouse. To kick off the season, he's booked an acoustic rock show and invited a swath of socialites, local Hamptons celebrities and fashion industry folks. Which is to say that it will likely be Billy Joel, Christie Brinkley and you (things might get uncomfortable).

May 29, 3-6pm, Après Beach Party at John Varvatos, 54 Newton Ln, East Hampton, 631-324-4440

TEA CUPPING

Pink Is the New Black

For 55 years, the place to get fried chicken and waffles in the West Village was the Pink Tea Cup. Then it disappeared. Wednesday, it returns, in a new location complete with fancy cocktails and a stage for live performances. Chicken and waffles remain. We'll resist the urge to say we're tickled pink.
